Onager Reloaded

“Onager Reloaded“ is a VR Project, where the goal is to destroy towers using a catapult. First, the player must properly load the catapult to ready it for firing. This involves winding it up by attaching a rope to the catapult and securing it with a ring. While winding, the player can decide how much tension to apply, thereby determining the projectile’s range. A crank is used to set the direction in which the catapult will fire. Once the catapult is correctly aligned, the safety catch must be pulled to fire. The player has three projectiles; if these are used up while the towers are still standing, the game ends and the player loses. Working in a team of four, I was tasked with 3D modeling, texturing and animating the weapon. The onager consists out of the following elements: Wooden frame, throwing arm with cradle, twisted rope bundle, rings with pin (locking mechanism for the winch), shock absorber, hand crank with winch handle and a rotating platform.
