I choose the object pencil to work and analyse, which was no easy task since it aready seemed to have a purpose, namely it’s usage for writing and drawing. However, the two artworks “Writing” and “Lamp pencil” do not portray the pencil that we know. “Writing” is a kinetic sculpture, that visualises the process of writing with a pencil. While “Lamp pencil” uses the natural attributes of graphite (which is to conduct electricity), while transforming the object into something new and giving the pencil a new purpose.
